The project proposes a new building of the National Museum in Prague to accommodate the collection of Lapidarium, now situated in the fairground in Holešovice. The new building is situated next to the original and the New building (former parliament) of National Museum in the very centre of Prague. The project is closely bound to the intended renovation of the Wenceslas Square, particularly to its second phase in which motor traffic will be led in a two storey tunnel behind the National Museum. The building is located above this tunnel. Because of a limited plot, the permanent collection is placed in a vertical volume, accomplished by two smaller masses (temporary exhibits and offices).
